The Partner’s In Care Story. A short documentary.
My 2nd year directing and producing the annual BendFilm Festival non-profit film. The goal behind this film was to tell an optimistic and celebratory story about hospice care which can often be thought of as a sad or morbid subject matter. During our initial pre-production meeting, producers Lisa Hurley and Jenny Blechman made the point that the work they do is focused “living, not dying.” Yes hospice is an end-of-life process, but it’s so much more than that.
In the testimonial from Diane Murray Fleck, she stated, “There’s a lot of life that happens there…In each of those rooms, families are reviewing and remembering why they love each other and the memories they made together. And that’s valuable. That’s a treasure.”
