Where artistry, precision, and problem-solving meet.

From expansive landscapes to intimate details. From carefully crafted scenes to fleeting moments that only happen once. Every project presents different creative and technical challenges, but the goal remains the same: creating images that serve the story.

There are very few trade skills like cinematography. It is a unique craft. It demands artistic taste as well as technical precision. The instinctive understanding of visual beauty as well as the math behind composition and lighting and the application of technology. Beautiful images rarely happen by accident—they’re the result of the dance between science and art – and the hundreds of decisions that bring them together.

My process begins by understanding the story, the director’s vision, and what the audience should experience. From there, I develop the lighting, composition, lensing, movement, contrast, and texture that give the film its visual language.

Documentary Cinematography

Documentary filmmaking rarely follows a single process. Some productions are carefully researched, scripted and shot-listed. Others rely on interviews and observational coverage. Others still require a true cinéma vérité approach where the story develops in real time and the camera must adapt alongside it.

Over the past fifteen years, I’ve worked across that spectrum—photographing long-form documentary series, branded documentaries, nonprofit films, historical interviews, outdoor expeditions, live events, and observational productions. Each project demands a different balance of preparation, collaboration, patience, and instinct.

Whether building a visual plan before the first day of production or responding to moments that can’t be anticipated, my goal remains the same: to create thoughtful, cinematic imagery that serves the story without compromising its authenticity.

Commercial & Narrative Cinematography

Commercial and narrative filmmaking offer the opportunity to build a visual language with intention. Every frame can be shaped through collaboration, preparation, and deliberate creative choices that support the story long before production begins.

Every technical decision is ultimately a creative decision. Lens selection influences perspective and emotion. Camera movement affects energy and pacing. Lighting establishes mood, depth, and texture. Color, filtration, exposure, and composition all work together to guide how an audience experiences a scene. The technical craft exists in service of the creative one.

My process begins by understanding the director’s vision and the emotional goals of the story. From there, every decision—from pre-production through the final shot—is made to reinforce that vision while remaining flexible enough to adapt to the realities of production.

Whether photographing a national commercial campaign, a branded film, or a scripted narrative, my objective is never to create images that simply look beautiful. It’s to create imagery that feels purposeful, immersive, and inseparable from the story itself.
