January consumed every moment of my life with a new 3 episode documentary short film production. OAS Executive Director, Pat Addabbo, and I worked closely together on this project to tell a different kind of story than what people are used to from adaptive sports programs like this. We wanted to make an intentional effort to avoid re-telling common stories about people with disabilities and the challenges they face. Instead, we wanted to make this story about passion for the outdoors and how the love of playing in the snow is for everyone. Basically, we wanted to leave the heart-strings alone and focus on stoking the fire for adventure.
We’re all really happy with how this turned out and now we’re turning our attention to planning another mini-series like this for the OAS summer program. We’ll be filming adaptive rock climbing, mountain biking, kayaking and many other sports.
Big thanks to my man, Michael Belardi who came out from PA to help shoot this with me.
